Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the annual Australian Kookaburra silver coin series continues to command trust from investors worldwide. This year’s release of the highly sought-after 1 kilo coin brings a design that will astound many, marking an exciting milestone in its rich history.

Renowned for its iconic laughing call, the kookaburra is heard across Australia – from the outback to the back yard. And while it may be adept at snatching food from your barbeque or picnic table, the kookaburra enjoys a varied menu in the wild - insects, earthworms, frogs, fish, mice, or even venomous snakes! Grabbing a snake with its large bill, the kookaburra generally bludgeons its prey to death before feeding.   

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the iconic Australian Kookaburra, the coin’s reverse depicts a majestic kookaburra perched on a tree branch. A privy mark pays tribute to the original Australian Kookaburra coin design, with radiant lines symbolising a sun burst. The reverse also includes the inscription ‘KOOKABURRA 35th ANNIVERSARY’, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and the coin’s weight, purity and 2025 year-date. 

The coin incorporates an authentication feature on the reverse. In the form of a micro-laser engraved letter, it is only detectable under a magnifying glass.

The coin is subject to an unlimited mintage, however, production will close at the end of 2025, after which The Perth Mint will declare its final mintage number.
